Hey guys, I’ve just built an MVP. A dev agency took advantage of me after I paid £13k wanting another £10k. I told them to get fukt and I didn’t get the code base. It hurt a little financially, and I wasted 3 months but I couldn’t sit back and do nothing. So I rebuilt it myself from scratch. But what’s the problem you’re trying to solve? Calm down, I’m gonna get there… ..So, I find it difficult to stay in touch and present with all my relationships. Socially and professionally. (I’m a freelancer cinematographer and all my work comes from relationships) So I wanted to build an awareness layer that could mirror what’s going on in my world. But Duh, use a CRM? That’s what they’re for? Ermm kinda. CRMs IMO are for managing relationships. I don’t need to manage my real life relationships. I just want to know how present I am, with each person so I know when to drop them a line, touch base and say hello. I dislike admin, I dislike the ‘ pipeline ’. Just give me something simple, calm and visual. It made me realise most of these tools are built for the left side analytical brain. I wanted to build something for the right . 🧠 So what’s so different about Orbit then? Well, it’s simple, it’s calm, it’s visual. It’s an orbit map with relationship nodes. Each node you see in that image above is a relationship. It’s special and you should maintain them. The nodes are always drifting to the outer bands on an algorithm I built on research. Anyway, it represents real relationship drift. Because this happens invisibly, quietly in the background of our lives and we don’t even bloody realise until….its been a year and you’re thinking f**k me it’s been ages. I wanted to turn the invisible, Visible. Like magic ! ✨ So the idea is you log interactions, and depending on the weight of that interaction you log, it moves the node further forwards. So a WhatsApp message moves the needle less than a coffee in person. Each band represents a time scale since you last interacted with that person. So all those people in your drifting ring, well, you need to touch base and say hello. Reconnect with a simple message. Who knows what that may lead to :) But garrrrr that sounds like a lot of work manually logging each interaction? Yup, you’re right. And this is what I’m trying to validate on the MVP. Is this something people would actually use and come back to? But…there is a solution. I’ve integrated WhatsApp into the MVP. It pulls names and recency data only. Strictly no messages and allows you to populate your map easily and plots their starting position based on when you last spoke. My roadmap is integration with the typical platforms, so as you interact naturally, it picks up and sends the data to your map so the nodes move by themselves. Giving you a real time map of how present you are with each person. But what else does it do? Well, you can store notes, contact details, anything to help you restore continuity, set reminders. Just like every other app) I’ve been working on a nice calm home feed, that gives you calm, awareness cards of who’s drifted just to keep you updated on what’s happening. It’s up to you to do whatever you please with this information.But it’s now visible in the open. Anyway - It’s been a hell of a journey to get here, it’s been really fun whatever happens and I am kinda proud of what I’ve built. But I need some of you brutal Reddit folk to test it, try it, rip it to pieces or whatever you do. I just need some real honest feedback.
