SEC asks whether a CPA license, a CFP certification, a CFA charter, two securities licenses, or a future FINRA exam should qualify accredited investors
The Securities and Exchange Commission issued five notices the same day, each asking whether one professional credential alone should qualify a person as an accredited investor — the status allowing investment in private offerings not registered with the Commission. The credentials are a CPA license, a CFP certification, a CFA charter, two securities licenses (Series 79, 86 and 87), and an accredited-investor exam FINRA has not yet built. The Commission has designated none of them; comments are due December 4, 2026.
