Federal tariff actions against China over technology transfer and intellectual property did not terminate on their 2026 anniversaries, after domestic industries asked to keep them.
The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative said October 7 that two Section 301 tariff actions on China, from July 6 and August 23, 2018, did not terminate on their four-year anniversaries because representatives of domestic industries asked to keep them. USTR counted 68 producer and 18 trade-association requests for the July action, and 57 producer and 19 for the August one; both remain in effect, subject to further review. A same-day notice makes a technical fix to one product exclusion's tariff code, retroactive to July 1, 2026.
