USTR asks U.S. producers for EU carbon-border costs and views on possible enforcement action
The U.S. Trade Representative opened a comment window October 8 on how the European Union's carbon-border mechanism affects American producers, workers and exports. It wants evidence of costs, lost sales and effects on jobs, plus views on possible enforcement responses and proposals to cover more products. Comments are due November 9 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern. The notice announces no enforcement action, and the expansion proposals are not enacted law.
