Treasury seeks comments on notices sent when garnishment reaches accounts receiving federal benefits
Treasury is seeking an extension of an existing information collection covering notices to account holders affected by garnishment. Its public-inspection copy is scheduled for Federal Register publication October 26. It estimates 487,750 annual responses and 76,688 burden hours; these are paperwork estimates, not a count of people whose protected benefits were taken. The notice does not announce a change to benefit protections.
