Forest Service changes how administrative-site leases are regulated
A final Forest Service rule removes certain administrative-site leases from the agency's special-use regulations effective December 2. USDA says the change is meant to make redevelopment financing more feasible, including for housing. Commenters raised concerns about public land and cultural protections; the department says the rule does not authorize land sales or remove applicable statutory requirements.
