A retirement from one tool, not from the models' makers: OpenAI's own GPT-5.5 retirement (October 14, from ChatGPT and Codex) 'does not apply to the OpenAI API', and OpenAI names GPT-6 Sol there, not GPT-5.6 Sol. GitHub's supported-models page, read the same evening, carries the October 2 retirements and no 2026-10-19 entry.
