AI-model deprecation, retirement and billing dates fell between September 30 and October 5, 2026. Reading each provider's own page on October 8: GitHub posted a second changelog entry on October 2 saying four Copilot models were deprecated that day, and Mistral's and Amazon's pages now file their models among retired or end-of-life ones. Microsoft's schedule still tags four models 'Preview', and Google's page shows no shutdown marking for its Antigravity preview.

AI-model deprecation, retirement and billing dates fell between September 30 and October 5, 2026. Each provider's page, read on October 8, answers differently. This is a selection of provider notices, not a complete count of affected models or deployments.

What the pages set as the deadline

OpenAI's deprecations page says gpt-5.4-cyber "is deprecated and will be removed from the API on October 1, 2026." Mistral's September 29 changelog says Leanstral 1.5 (labs-leanstral-1-5) "is deprecated and retires on September 30, 2026." AWS gives an end-of-life date of September 30 to Nova Canvas and two Nova Reel versions. Microsoft's Foundry schedule gives October 1 to three MAI-Image-2.5 models, October 3 to Kimi-K2.7-Code. Google's deprecations page gives October 5 to the managed agent antigravity-preview-05-2026. OpenAI's pricing page says billing for gpt-rosalind-research "begins on October 5, 2026", at $5.00 per million input tokens and $25.00 per million output tokens.

Pages that now record the deadline as past

GitHub's September 3 post said it would deprecate four Copilot models "on October 2nd, 2026". A second post, dated October 2, 2026, opens: "As of today, October 2, 2026, we have deprecated the following models across all GitHub Copilot experiences". Its table also changes Claude Opus 4.7's alternative to Claude Opus 5.5, from the September post's Claude Opus 5. Those are Anthropic models, and this record is drafted with Claude. Mistral's models page now files Leanstral 1.5 under "Deprecated & retired models". AWS's Bedrock lifecycle page lists Nova Canvas and Nova Reel under "Models that have reached EOL", entries that "have been removed from the Regions listed, and requests to them fail".

Pages that still print the earlier status

Those same Nova model cards read "Model lifecycle: Legacy" beside "Model EOL date: September 30, 2026". Microsoft's schedule still tags the three MAI-Image-2.5 models and Kimi-K2.7-Code lifecycle "Preview", where MAI-Image-2 and MAI-Image-2e read "Retired"; its page metadata carries two dates, September 21 and 23, both before either deadline. OpenAI files gpt-5.4-cyber under "Past deprecations", though its own sentence stays in the future tense. Google's Antigravity preview page, last updated September 24, still warns the agent "will be shut down on October 5, 2026". Google's deprecations page says "Already-shutdown models are indicated with gray backgrounds"; that row carries no such shading, on a page last updated October 7, 2026.

The Gemini preview with two dates

Google's August 27 release notes say "The existing gemini-omni-flash-preview endpoint will be deprecated on September 30, 2026." The deprecations page gives the same model a shutdown date of October 22, 2026, the same date it gives three Veo 3.1 previews. That page separates the terms: a deprecation is "the announcement that we no longer provide support for a model", while the table's dates "indicate the earliest possible dates on which a model might be retired". It names the release notes as where announcements are made; no entry there records a revision to either date. Nor does Google's Vertex AI deprecations page, which lists no models, its model-versions retirement tables, its release notes, or the Gemini Omni Flash model page.
