Fourteen recalls in one day: five children's toys, seven products sold only online, and one brand of heated blankets with 577 reports of smoking, melting or burning and 53 burn injuries.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission posted 14 recalls on September 17, covering about 660,000 units sold in the United States. Five are children's products with choking or ingestion hazards, including a magnetic toy set that put two children in hospital and a toddler busy board sold on Amazon, about 276,000 of them. Seven were sold only online, five of those only on Amazon. The heaviest injury record is JKMAX heated blankets and heating pads, about 195,000 of them, with 577 reports of overheating and 53 burn injuries. Sauna360 is recalling some of its hybrid saunas a second time because the first repair did not work. No deaths are reported in any of the 14. Each has a remedy, most of them a refund, and this record lists what to do for each.

On September 17 the Consumer Product Safety Commission posted 14 recalls. Taken together they cover about 660,000 products sold in the United States. Most of them had been on sale for more than a year: eight of the 14.

Three patterns stand out: children's toys, products sold only through online marketplaces, and one heated-blanket brand with a long injury record.

The toys

Five of the 14 are children's products, and every one of the five involves something a child can swallow or choke on.

  • Jerify magnetic stick-figure toy sets (about 38,500, Amazon only, about $21). The limbs can release small, powerful magnets. "CPSC and the firm are aware of two reports involving children who were able to remove and ingest magnets from the limbs. Both incidents resulted in hospitalization." The CPSC lists what swallowed magnets can do: "perforations, twisting, and/or blockage of the intestines, blood poisoning and death." Refund.
  • Esjay toddler busy boards (about 276,000, Amazon only, $18 to $30). "The recalled toy violates the small parts ban because the product is for children under three years of age and the red knobs can detach, posing a deadly choking hazard." No incidents reported. Remove and discard the page with the red knobs; a free replacement page is sent.
  • Melissa & Doug Lights & Sounds Fire Truck Activity Board (about 84,000, sold only at Target, about $30). The fire hose port can come loose. 26 reports of it detaching and one minor cut. Free replacement, a $30 refund check or a $40 store credit.
  • SHEIN pull-and-chew Montessori teething toys (about 644, SHEIN only, about $10). The silicone strings are "smaller and longer than permitted" and can lodge in the back of a baby's throat. Refund.
  • Toyworld168 rainbow mystery squishy bun toys (about 276, about $3). The water beads inside expand larger than permitted, "posing a deadly ingestion hazard." Refund.

Four of the five were recalled for breaking a mandatory federal toy standard or the small parts ban outright, not for failing in use.

The heaviest injury record

JKMAX heated blankets and heating pads, about 195,000 of them, every model the firm sold, Amazon only, September 2022 to July 2026:

JKMax is aware of 577 reports of blankets smoking, melting or burning due to the heating elements overheating, including 53 burn injuries.

The remedy is a refund. Heated-blanket season is starting. If one is on a bed in your house, check the brand.

The recall that had to be recalled

Sauna360 recalled its Tylö Halmstad and Kiruna hybrid saunas in October 2025 because a bench could collapse. The fix did not hold. "The saunas contain a bench that can collapse, posing a fall hazard to consumers. The previous recall repair was ineffective; a new repair is now being offered." Since then there have been 77 more reports of benches breaking and six injuries, one of them to the head and neck. A second free repair by a professional installer. The same company separately recalled about 41,600 infrared saunas and kits sold at Costco and spa dealers since 2013, after 67 reports of panels overheating, melting or charring. Free in-home repair.

Where they were sold

Seven of the 14 were sold only online: five only on Amazon, one only on SHEIN, and the pressure washer on Amazon, Walmart.com and Temu. Two of the sellers give a Chinese email service or a Gmail address as their only consumer contact.

When the seller is a marketplace storefront, a recall notice may never reach the buyer. The CPSC's search is the reliable way to check. Look up anything you bought for a child in the past three years.

What these recalls do not say

  • No deaths are reported in any of the 14, although ten name a risk of death in their title.
  • Injuries are reported for only four: JKMAX (53 burns), Sauna360 hybrid (6), Jerify (2 hospitalisations) and Melissa & Doug (one minor cut).
