NRC final rule changes hearing-request deadlines and scheduling for contested nuclear licensing proceedings
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission's November 3 final rule revises contested licensing procedures for proceedings noticed on or after December 3. It sets different hearing-request periods for Standard, Expedited and Focused Proceedings and requires the relevant notice to state filing deadlines. The rule changes hearing procedure; it does not approve a particular nuclear license or establish that a specific challenger has lost a hearing.
