CBP proposes that rail carriers send it advance data on passengers and crew crossing the U.S. border by train, including name, birth date and travel document
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has proposed requiring rail carriers to send it travelers' identity, travel document and itinerary details before a train crosses the U.S. border. The proposal, scheduled to be published October 13, would make traveler data due 60 minutes before departure and a train notice 24 hours before the train reaches the border. It includes no start date. The Federal Register's record lists comments closing December 14, 2026.
