ONC removes an accessibility check from patient-records certification while leaving civil-rights obligations intact
A final health-IT rule removes the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines conformance requirement from certification for viewing, downloading and transmitting patient records. The change takes effect December 28. ONC says federal accessibility obligations remain and expects developers to retain accessible features; commenters warned that removing the certification check could shift more evaluation work to healthcare providers.
