Ariston recalls NTI and HTP gas boilers after reports of detached covers and an injury

An October 29 recall covers 4,726 NTI and HTP residential gas boilers, plus 2,261 sold in Canada. A cracked internal dish can let gas collect and ignite, potentially detaching the cover. CPSC says to stop using affected boilers and arrange a free repair; people who must continue using one while waiting should have working smoke and carbon-monoxide alarms.

Ariston is recalling 4,726 NTI and HTP residential gas boilers, with another 2,261 sold in Canada, because an internal part can crack and allow gas to accumulate. The October 29 CPSC notice reports three incidents in which a front cover detached. It also reports one incident in which a technician servicing the boiler sustained a broken jaw.

Which boilers

The recall covers specified serial numbers in NTI's FTVN and TFTN model series and HTP's EFTU series. The NTI units are gray; the HTP units are black. They are rectangular metal boilers with the brand printed on the front.

The model and serial number are on the rating plate on the boiler's left side. The recall's table lists the affected model numbers and serial-number ranges. A brand or series name alone does not establish that a boiler is included; compare both identifiers with that table.

The boilers were sold through independent heating and plumbing contractors and wholesale distributors nationwide from May 2021 through July 2026 for $3,200 to $7,700.

The reported hazard

CPSC says the condensate dish inside the boiler can crack during a delayed ignition, allowing unburned gas to build up inside the sealed cabinet. If that gas ignites, the front cover can suddenly detach. The agency identifies fire, carbon-monoxide poisoning and impact hazards, including a risk of serious injury or death.

The firm has received 34 reported incidents of the dish breaking. Three involved the cover detaching. These are reported incidents, not a count of affected homes or a prediction that every recalled boiler will fail.

What owners should do

The notice says to stop using recalled boilers immediately and contact Ariston to schedule a free repair by a certified technician. It adds that consumers who must continue using a boiler while awaiting repair should have working smoke and carbon-monoxide alarms in their homes.

Ariston's recall number is 800-688-2575, available 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern, Monday through Friday. The CPSC notice provides email and online contact routes as well as the identification table.
